1.Find Frozen Water Falls To Explore Near You!
Exploring frozen waterfalls, sounds crazy but it’s easier than you think. You’ve seen all the epic pictures on Instagram and now it’s your turn to get into the action. It can be a fun filled day with the family or friends. We recommend using ice grips, trekking poles and waterproof winter clothing. Also bring clothes to change once you get back to the car, and a thermos of hot coco. It’s surprising how wet you can get since the waterfalls don’t usually fully freeze over. Make sure young children are always close to an adult as their may be dangers of open water or slippery ice.
2. Dog Sleigh Adventure.
This one might be for people who live in the colder climate but well worth the travel up north for those who don’t. Like any other dog breed these Huskies are sweet and sociable, they are ultra dependable for a driver who is taking them on a long dog sleigh ride. Did you know? The smartest dogs are the leaders? So get close and personal for the ride of your life. The exhilarating speed and amazing wilderness you will get to enjoy is second to none. Here is a list of place where you can find Dog Slegh in the USA and Canada.
3. Hammock Snowball Fight Stations.
This winter adventure is an old classic with a twist. Go ahead and set up a few hammocks around your yard or in the woods near by, fill them with as many snowballs as you can and challenge whoever is around. You’ll be ready for anything and won’t run out of ammo. If you really wanna step up your game then set up a rainfly as a shield or fort and you’ve got yourself the ultimate snowball fight. This is a super easy and fun activity for kids and adults of all ages. This is sure to bring back some great childhood memories. We can help us with a reliable hammock if you don’t have one. Check out our Eclypse II Camping Hammock.
4. Have A Winter Bonfire!
Did you ever stop and think what your favourite camp fire spot looks like in the winter? Our favourite spot happens to be on the shoreline of Manitoulin Island of lake Huron in the summer but in the winter this place is even more spectacular. Every winter brings a new landscape of frozen ice sculptures, the beauty of it is, every year it looks different. It’s a good place for us to reflect on our new years goals and feel inspired for the upcoming year. If your favourite spots are too hard to get at with all the snow then venture out and discover new places. Make sure you bring your favourite beverage with you to enjoy while you sit and enjoy the warmth of the fire.
5.Snowshoe on a lake!
Snowshoeing on a lake!!
Most people think of going skating on the lake but with that you need pristine conditions and no snow. When out snowshoeing head to the lake and try it out. Make sure that there is at least 4-5 inches of ice to make sure it is safe to walk on. You wouldn’t believe the feeling of walking out in the open on a lake , it just makes you feel alive. It gives snowshoeing a totally different feel instead of following a trail in the woods or making your own trail amongst the trees. When we are out snowshoeing we use it as a way to adventure and explore places we can’t explore during the summer months.
We hope you like and try some of these ideas. As always make sure to be safe , dress for the weather conditions and don’t take unnecessary risks. Have fun, bring hot cacao and please share your experiences with us.
